JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) announced that Indonesia was chosen to host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in 2024. This was decided at the 9th WWF in Dakar, Senegal, on Saturday (19 /3/2022) where Indonesia received 30 votes out of a total of 36 votes from the Board of Governors World Water Council (WWC).
Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono thanked the President and members of the WWC Board of Governors for choosing and giving full trust to Indonesia to host the 10th WWF.
“We understand that this decision was taken through a long process and careful consideration from the members of the board and selection committee. Therefore, I express my sincere gratitude for your hard work and trust in the Indonesian government,” he said in a written statement, Sunday (20/3/2022).
The 10th WWF will be held in Bali with the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity” to answer global challenges and potentials caused by increasing population growth and urbanization. According to him, Bali has rich experience and excellent supporting facilities to hold international events, so it is believed that it can support the implementation of the 10th WWF agenda in 2024 well. “We will arrange the 10th WWF event in a comfortable, safe and efficient way in Bali. In 2024, we can meet again in Bali to attend the next forum and experience the extraordinary hospitality and local wisdom of Bali, including the Subak system that has become UNESCO world heritage,” he said.He hopes that with the holding of the 10th WWF in 2024, they can find solutions to address water problems globally, in particular ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation. “With the strong commitment, hard work and solid cooperation under the leadership of WWC, I am confident that we can fulfil this common goal,” he said.
